VayuMet's Rainfall layer maps precipitation across India at three time resolutions from NOAA GFS — 6-hourly totals, 24-hourly (daily) totals stepped out across the forecast run, and cumulative run-total rainfall. A composite radar reflectivity layer and a rain-plus-radar-flash overlay highlight active convective cells.
GFS at 0.25° resolution can significantly underestimate orographic rainfall over steep terrain such as the Western Ghats and Himalayan foothills — use the map for spatial pattern guidance rather than point-precise values, and see individual state forecast pages for district-level context.
